Porbatata issues postage stamps

The philatelic issue comprises two stamps, one for domestic mail and another for European mail

Within the scope of the Portuguese Potato Internationalisation Project, Porbatata created a stamp that puts Miss Tata into circulation across “unchartered waters”. It values everyone: the defendants of domestic production, Portuguese potato consumers, the most inquisitive, those who still like to send a nice letter, and of course, philatelists.

The philatelic issue comprises two stamps, one for domestic mail and another for European mail, both with a face value of 0.20 grams, in a first edition of 5000 stamps.

“Whether personally or professionally, we all have moments we’d like to record for ever. In this case, and being very proud of what is Portuguese, we have the opportunity to publicise Portuguese potatoes and to immortalise Miss Tata in the history of the sector and the country”, states Sergio Ferreira, Chairman of the Management Board of Porbatata.

For two years, Porbatata is carrying out a project for Promoting Portuguese Potatoes in Foreign Markets. France, Germany, Spain, The Netherlands, The United Arab Emirates, Slovenia and Angola are considered to be strategic markets.

This project is supported by Portugal 2020, under the Competitiveness and Internationalisation Operational Programme. Besides creating a specific collective brand, whose actions include the issue of the postage stamp, initiatives are planned such as presence at international events and holding promotional activities.
