With the aim of demonstrating the versatility, possibilities and convenience of Portuguese potatoes, Porbatata created a series of videos with practical recipes that are quick to make using Miss Tata, Portuguese Potatoes.
To make the best dishes, recipes were chosen from other countries, the characteristics of various Portuguese potatoes were studied, and top quality domestic products were added. This resulted in 6 very varied dishes: Aligot, Baked potato, Gnocchi, Kartoffelsupp, Tortilla and of course, Salada à Algarvia.
Chef Leandro Mesquita – Executive chef of the restaurant Di Amici – with his vast international experience, was the partner chosen to collaborate on this challenge.
“Potatoes originated from America, travelling across the seas to conquer Europe; they became one of the foundations of man’s diet and were a cultural exchange among ancient peoples. They are a versatile and democratic product. We can employ all cooking techniques with potatoes, as they can be fried, boiled, baked, mashed, made into pastas, salads, soups and other delicacies. I loved taking part in this project where the producer, Carol Thomé, helped turn ideas into reality, enabling Porbatata to conquer the world with all its values”, said the Chef.
Carol Thomé, the art and culture journalist, was responsible for producing the videos – all of which are under two minutes.
“Potatoes are the queen of the kitchen. They bring together all tribes (carnivores, vegetarians and vegans); they are eaten all over the world and whether they’re boiled or fried, they’re delicious anyhow. They can be served as a starter, a main course or even dessert; they’re versatile and pleasing to everyone. I love potatoes, and as I like this food so much, I was extremely happy to produce the videos of Porbatata recipes with Chef Leandro Mesquita. Besides the delicious dishes that came out of our studio-kitchen, I had the opportunity to learn more about the various kinds of potatoes that are on the market, their properties and benefits”, said the gastronomy expert.
Sandra Pereira underlines the versatility of Miss Tata. “We believe that these videos will be an aid to the work that has been developed so far, boosting Portuguese potatoes while also catching the attention of many cookery lovers.” The Secretary-General of Porbatata concluded.
